Halloween in Los Angeles means tons of activities to either give you a scare, or get you in the spirit of fall with pumpkin patches and more.

Theme parks certainly know how to give a good scare when it comes to Halloween. And, Universal Studios is no exception. From September to the beginning of November, join thousands as the theme park puts on a Halloween extravaganza. With size new mazes this year, incuding horror classics like The Exorcist, Freddy vs. Jason, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Halloween: Hell Comes To Haddonfield, as well as some newer more modern favorites, if you love Halloween, this is the place to be. This year, there will be a The Purge: Election Year scare zone and a terror tram from Crypt TV and Eli Roth which will be full of scary killer clowns, including nightly performances Jabbawockeez. This hip hop dance group will add an even greater flare to the evening. Make sure to check out their Walking Dead maze too!

Love to be scared? You've come to the right place at Creep LA, which is described to be one of the closest things to feeling like you're actually in a horror story. Creep is a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience whereby groups of 8 will be brought into and explore hidden scenes, intimate encounters and scary situations. The show, which is between 60-90 minutes with no intermission, brings together strobe lights and fog machines to enhance the scariness. Beware: this is for those that are serious about being scared!

Knott's Scary Farm has been a staple of Halloween for years. Each year, the attractions and scariness get better and better, and this year is no exception. Knotts' long running Halloween scarefest and will include eight mazes (2 of them are new!), as well as zombie laser tag, an augmented reality game, a virtual-reality horror experience, and many immersive horror experiences for people who pay a little extra for a pass with a skeleton key. We definitely recommend this if you're not the type that loves waiting in lines! Prepare to be scared as you traverse the mazes and monsters sneak up on you to give you the fright of your life!

The 17th Door in Tustin is one of those scare zones that goes above and beyond your normal haunted house. It tells the story of Paula, a college student gone wrong who essentially has many issues. But, beware, those who can be a bit troubled by some of the darker sides of humanity should beware of this experience. Here, you can expect over a dozen rooms, along with mini-escape rooms, and a half hour haunt that will leave you with nightmares! Monsters will be in every direction you turn and look, too!

Back again this year, The Queen Mary will be putting on its annual haunted 'Dark Habor' Halloween related experience. As one of the more popular Halloween related events during the October season, Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch is back again. This year, Mr. Bones is back and better than ever. The event will be bringing new activities, with great photo opportunities, and more fun than years before. The event is open Sunday - Thursday from 9am to 8pm, or Friday and Saturday from 9am to 9pm. Activities include exploring a pumpkin village, a tipi village, giant rocking horses, visiting a petting zoo with baby goats, sheep and ducks, a straw maze, a super slide, pumpkin decorating and much more!

Get ready for more fang-tastic festivities with the animals, as Boo at the L.A. Zoo returns. Straying from the traditional haunted house, a spooky cave experience awaits you, filled with shadow projections and sounds of slithering snakes and crawling spiders. Daily weekday activities include a corn stalk maze, complete with haunted barn and "freaky frame" photo op, and "Animals and You" encounters with tarantulas, scorpions, snakes, and more at 10:45am and 11:45am. Additional activities are planned for the weekends, like a "Mad Science Fire and Ice Halloween Show," "Musical Monster Mash-Up" puppet show, costumed dance party, themed crafts, strolling characters, pumpkin carving, and special animal feedings. Costume character meet-and-greets are also planned with PJ Masks and Peppa Pig on select weekends. Activities are free with paid zoo admission. Also while you're there, don't miss the animatronic exhibit Dinosaurs: Unextinct, which closes at the end of this month.

Los Angeles' famed Haunted Hayride returns this year to its darker and more disturbing roots with this year's brand new and most innovative theme of Secret Society. Upon entering the LA Haunted Hayride gates, you'll need to decide to which part of the Secret Society do you belong? The Elite or The Deranged? Located in Griffith Park, this hayride through the grounds after dark will have you riding on a wagon and traveling some of the path on foot. This year, Rise of The Jack O' Lanterns will be held at downtown LA's Convention Center. This iconic, and unique family-friendly event will offer thousands of hand-carved and illuminated jack o'lanterns which will be creatively on display. Follow the scenic path set to a Halloween musical score and get in the spirit of the season! There is said to be around 5,000 different and unique carved pumpkins in this incredible walk through exhibition, so you won't want to miss out on it!
