The mission of the chorus is to work with adult chorales, orchestras and operas to teach vocal artistry to local youth. From the ages of 6 to 18, participants develop their skills with hard work, dedication and passion and have the unique opportunity to travel the world with local powerhouses like the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra and the Master Chorale and hone their skills.. This 28th educational season promises to continue collaborations with guest artists and vocal master's classes. Attending a performance, in a multitude of local world-class venues, is an awe-inspiring experience as the "children" perform on par with established professionals. The very family-friendly performances cover a wide range of forms and styles.

www.lamc.orgAs a resident of the Music Center of Los Angeles County for 50 years, the Grammy-nominated Chorale is led by music director Grant Gershon and has worldwide acclaim. Called "Inspired" by the New York Times, the Chorale is currently in its 50th season at the Music Center and its 11th season as a resident chorus at the famed Walt Disney Concert Hall. The chorale presents its own concert series each season and performs music from early writings to more contemporary compositions as well. To date, the choir has performed in more than 300 concerts with the LA Philharmonic at both the Walt Disney Hall and the renowned Hollywood Bowl, and recently toured with the orchestra to New York City as well as Europe. Releasing CDs and premiering vocal original works round out a record of excellence.

Covering a full range of music styles, this ensemble holds themed events including period costuming and celebrations as well. The group's dedication to promote "choral music as an art form" takes in the span of the last 400 years. A great part of its mission is to break generational and cultural barriers, and its 50 years of experience and endurance has proven an ability to bring the most diverse individuals into the fold.

Thirty-four years of experience has brought this group of volunteers to the professional level and the experience shows. Concerts, events and outreach through the Alive Music Project is driven by a common desire to "expose new communities to our message of equality." The Alive project reaches out to the young LGBT community who "deserve a safe place to learn and grow." Other programs of outreach seek out every community in the Southland. While every performance may have a message, the ensemble brings out the message in entertaining and palatable tones, sounds, vocals, music and stage action.
