This 10,000 square-foot shop is the second opened by college buddies Carol Lim and Humberto Leon. It offers many of the same designers as the flagship New York store, including Band of Brothers, Acne and Topshop. Prices are high – expect to pay in the neighborhood of $80 for a designer T-shirt and $350 for a pair of sunglasses – and only some of the merchandise warrants such a display of capitalistic greed. Many of the items are unoriginal and cheaply manufactured, especially those under the Opening Ceremony label.

With a vintage flavor and great prices, Squaresville is one of LA's top boutiques. You're also unlikely to leave empty-handed and get a great selection of cowboy boots. Squaresville also buys used clothing.

Camille de Soto opened her boutique in 2007 with the mission to "provide fun, unique fashion at great prices," according to her website. The shop does offer unique and sophisticated items, including a great fold-over fall coat for $88 and a breezy ruffle dress with elasticized waist for $64. Well-organized, but modest website.

Quaint, intricate shop owned by former stylist Simone Porter. Lily Simone sells clothing as well as housewares and antiques through a separate entrance, and offers some of the area's most talented designers. Recent inventories include jeans by Blanc Denim, embossed crocodile leather bags by Winter and fair trade bags from Ghana. The website does not offer online purchasing, but the store's Facebook page shows a selection its wares.

Em and Co features designers like Vivienne Westwood, lodice, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Stella McCartney as well as clothing from local designers in a well-organized, welcoming space. The store also hosts monthly art exhibits and fashion events and offers free alterations, custom design and even pet sitting. Expect designer prices when it comes to the like of Vivienne Westwood, with some opportunity for sale items.
