There is a passionate minority that just doesn't care about this weekend's big football game. There is something about cheering for a team from either Denver or Carolina, as a Southern Californian that just makes the drama of big game Sunday kind of contrived. If beer, wings, and, shoulder pads just aren't your thing, LA is still overflowing with awesome things to go, do, and see. Whether you want to watch the game or not, you can always catch the commercials all over Facebook timeline on Monday anyways.

While California isn't anywhere near out of the woods as far as our historic drought, for the first time in a lone while, there is a healthy heap of snow in the nearby mountains. One of the coolest places to get your winter wonderland on is at the Snow Play spot of Big Bear. In addition to the standard inner-tubing, snow-angel, bunny sloping goodness, Big Bear Snow Play offers night time shenanigans under the glow of tons of LED lights. Bringing out the child in every adult, Friday night might require snow chains and waterproof pants instead of stiletto heels and designer denim. It's not that far away either. A few short hours in the car, and you'll be there!

Housed on the site a formal Naval Officer's Club during World War II, the current site of the Long Beach Museum of Art has since been established as a cultural and community hub since 1950. Since then, the LBMA has grown to include a permanent collection of some 3,000 different works ranging from sculpture to decorative, from 20th Century European to California Modernism. The current featured exhibitions include painter and LB native, Lori LaMont, the mixed-medium masterwork of Barbara Starasen, and the cut-and-paste manipulation of photography from Terry Braunstein. Overlooking the scenic bluff on Ocean Ave., an afternoon at LBMA is likely a memorable one.

Taste of Night Market
The Barker Hangar

Santa Monica, CA 90405

www.tasteofnightmarket.com

From the same folks responsible for the wildly successful 626 Night Market of Arcadia, the DTLA Night Market, and the OC Night Market in Costa Mesa, the Westside will now get the chance to do some culinary exploring under the night sky. Loosely revolving around the theme of the Lunar New Year, the list of vendors is a dining who's who guaranteed to get you salivating. Komodo Kitchen by Chef Erwin, the Mediterranean-Armenian marriage of 10e, and the baked treats of Chef Barb Batiste's B Sweet are just some of the gourmet options lining the aisles. Coupled with live music and artisan goods to purchase post-meal, this dinner date is truly LA.

Though most famous for being the fictional home to Doc Brown of "Back to the Future," the intricacies of the house's design and woodwork have withstood the test of time and continues to be an important landmark in California's history. Literally a work of art, The Gamble House is a must-visit.
