When piecing together a weekend guide, we try and cover all the bases so that no matter your preference, you will find something that will strike your fancy. The following are our picks for activities you wont want to miss out on this weekend.

Friday, August 5

Wilmington Artwalk
Banning's Landing Community Center
100 E Water St
Wilmington, CA 90744
www.wilmingtonartwalk.com

Often pooled into the all-inclusive Harbor Area, Wilmington is a blue-collar corner of Los Angeles with a rich history due to it's close proximity to the port. And, the small stretch of land between San Pedro and Long Beach has a passionate contingent with an identity all it's own. Developing that community awareness, the Wilmington Artwalk is a quarterly event spearheaded by the Avalon Arts and Cultural Alliance. Committed to bringing into the focus the neighborhood's thriving artistry and craftsmanship, the streets come alive today with the city's best in show. From food, music, and plenty of art naturally, the reach of the Artwalk continues to grow and pull visitors from outside the city limits. Important in cultivating the identity of the sometimes tough turf, the Wilmington Artwalk is a shining example of how people that care can define a community.

Saturday, August 6

Adele
STAPLES Center
1111 S Figueroa St
Los Angeles, CA 90015
www.staplescenter.com

During the height of Adele's conquest of the radio airways with her colossal hit, "Hello," the songstress announced her supporting tour which included a handful of LA dates. Normally, anything more than two nights in L.A. is impossible to pull off. But, Adele is doing eight. Over the course of the month, Adele will perform a multi-night set of shows at the Staples Center, all of which are sold out. It should be said that considering the demand, it is probably well worth cruising the secondary market to try and get a ticket. The singer's pipes have already reached legendary status and this kind of mania is never just a fluke. The excitement for this run at Staples hasn't been felt since Kobe and Shaq were both in Laker uniforms. It's one show you will not want to miss out on seeing.

Guillermo del Toro: At Home With Monsters
LACMA
5905 Wilshire Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA, 90036
(323) 857-6000
www.lacma.org

There is an endless stream of superlatives to describe filmmaker Guillermo del Toro's wildly inventive approach to the silver screen. His craft is such that one of the most prestigious institutions of art and culture is devoting an entire exhibit to his mastery. A comprehensive collection of paintings, drawings, maquettes, concept film, and collectibles from his productions detail this creative dynamo in a way that is engagingly intimate. Blurring the lines of horror, fantasy, and sci-fi, del Toro's brilliance almost romanticizes the macabre in a way that merits such a pedestal. This exhibit is one of the museum's most anticipated of the year and guaranteed to be one worth multiple visits.
