A great local treat is the local theme park, a great visit any time of the year. Every fall, the theme park transforms into a spectacular Halloween treat with haunted attractions, zombie hunts, mazes and overall a fun and scary ways to spend your Halloween holiday. If you enjoy horror, this is the place to visit during the October month and enjoy all of the activities that come out specifically at this time of the year. This year, there are plenty of new attractions to get you excited at Knott's Scary Farm. Boasting two exciting shows, three scare zones, eleven mazes, and 1,000 monsters (yes, 1,000!), this month long event is one you should be looking forward to! There will also be a return of some of the more popular shows and attractions, however they will have new components and experiences to keep it fresh. New experiences include 'My Bloody Clementine,' where you'll travel the Calico Mine Ride and look for the ghost of Clementine, as well as 'The Dead of Winter,' a maze unlike any other. Other new attractions include 'Paranormal Inc,' a groundbreaking new maze with aerial stunts, and scares as guests move through a hospital where patients have been tortured for decades. New additions to returning attractions include 'The Hanging,' 'Black Magic,' 'Forever More,' 'Pinocchio Unstrung,' 'Tooth Fairy,' 'Trick or Treat' and many others. Hosted by the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Annual Sandcastle Contest is back again this year! Join other locals who will gather at Corona Del Mar State Beach for this annual sandcastle contest. This year's theme will be 'Fantasy Castles & Cars' so you can expect great sandcastles featuring classic cars, and grand castles. Thousands come every year to see what participants create, and those who participate in the event this year will receive a free T-shirt. Enjoy a day at the beach and see who comes out a winner with their sand design this year.

The wine and food festival will celebrate again this year in Newport Beach for two days of delicious eats and drinks. The daytime festivities will be held at the Newport Beach Civic Center and there are plenty of events to take part in.
