The holiday season is officially upon us. And while November's main event comes at the end of the month, there's still lots to do before you put on your stretchy pants and feast on turkey. Check out our list of the best ways to eat, drink, and entertain your way through the month.

Guests will be greeted by local artist Thomas Houseago's 15-foot-tall Giant Figure, and continue on to an exhibit of pieces ranging from slick avatars and popular icons, to images rooted in mythology and animal instincts. Jean-Michel Basquiat, Georg Baselitz, Takashi Murakami, and Andy Warhol are just a few of the 25+ artists who will have works on display that offer an array of lenses through which we view the human experience.

Check out all the best festival films of the year at the weeklong AFI FEST. Celebrating global cinema, the event creates an opportunity for master filmmakers to come together with emerging artists in the movie capital of the world. Screenings, galas, and other events will be held at the TCL Chinese Theatre, the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres, the Egyptian Theatre and The Hollywood Roosevelt. It's obvious that the Walt Disney Concert Hall is an amazing place to hear a performance, but the in/SIGHT series proves it's also a great place to see one as well. The Los Angeles Philharmonic will present staged performances, video projections, and other creative visual elements alongside three classic films this month. The world premiere of the film Rebel Without A Cause accompanied by live orchestra will be conducted by Scott Dunn (November 17), while David Newman will conduct the orchestra alongside the complete films of On The Waterfront (November 18), and Casablanca (November 20).

It always feels good to do good, so before you enjoy a feast with your family, why not head to Central Park in Pasadena and be a part of someone else's celebration. Union Station Homeless Services will once again host their annual Thanksgiving Dinner in the Park, providing thousands of holiday meals for all who attend. The dinner has been going strong for 45 years, and is a great way to help those in need. You must register ahead of time, and if you can't make it but would still like to help, store bought pies will be accepted before the event, or dropped off at the park Thanksgiving morning.

Before you eat so much you're too full to move, head downtown for the annual Turkey Trot. The family-friendly event is a time-honored tradition, as participants walk, jog, or run their way down Spring Street. Both 5k and 10k routes are available, as is a Widdle Wobble for kids 10 and under. In addition to the course, a costume contest, potato-sack race, and turkey-calling contest will also take place, and a special kid zone with face painting, arts, and crafts will be set up as well. All trotters receive a coveted Turkey Trot Trucker Hat, and the race benefits The Midnight Mission.
