Bellflower Woman Arrested After Chase, Standoff Into Laguna Beach
LAGUNA BEACH (CBS) — A 48-year-old Bellflower woman is in custody after leading Newport Beach police on a chase to Laguna Beach.
Kelly Sheree Taylor was arrested on suspicion of evading arrest and driving under the influence of drugs after leading the pursuit south from Newport Beach and onto Pacific Coast (1) Highway near Diamond Avenue in Laguna Beach. Even after stopping about 7 p.m. Friday, she refused to come out, Newport Beach police said.
Officers used non-lethal measures to get Taylor out of her sport utility vehicle and she was arrested shortly after 11 p.m.
Newport Beach police got a 6:43 p.m. report of a white sport utility vehicle being driven recklessly near PCH and Cameo Shores with no headlights on.
A chase led to Laguna, where two police trucks blocked the SUV, and SWAT officers surrounded the vehicle.
