Bear Mountain Eyeing Strong Finish To 'Roller-Coaster' Ski Season
BIG BEAR CITY (CBS) — It's still looking a lot like Christmas in late February for local ski resorts.
KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports with a fresh snowfall last week and more in the forecast, resort operators are hoping for a boost in attendance in coming weeks.

Brent Tregaskis, general manager of Bear Mountain, is looking to build on a recent surge in attendance after 14 inches of new snow fell last week.
"It's amazing, as good as it's been all year," said Tregaskis. "We have virtually 100 percent of both mountains open, and we're almost to the point where we don't have to make snow anymore."
The flurry of snow could save Bear Mountain up to $1,000 a day and may be a sign of even better things to come after a strong start in November followed by a weak lull in January.
"It's been an interesting season, almost what I call a roller-coaster ride," said Tregaskis. "We've been really fortunate to have a combination of good, cold temperatures to make snow, but more important, the natural snow that's fallen recently, we're doing pretty well."
Roads to both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit are open and snow chains are not required.
