Basement Flooding Shuts Down LA Criminal Courts
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A leak in the city Criminal Courts Building left the municipal justice system a wet mess on Monday.
KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reports cases are being reassigned to alternate locations after water was shut off to the entire 18-floor building.

Arraignment courts were shut down and cases were being shifted to the courts at Men's Central Jail or East L.A.
Flooding in the equipment rooms of the courthouse basement left the cafeteria and food preparation areas without water, along with knocking out the building's water fountains, sinks and toilets.
Detective Pamela Robinson with the Gardena Police Dept. said this kind of malfunction throws a wrench in everybody's plans.

"Everybody has to relocate, all the agencies, and they also have to get the defendants up there in lockup, they also have to be transported," Robinson said. "It's a lot of work."
Staff members in the district attorney's office were also ordered home until the water begins flowing again.
