Barricaded Suspect Taken Into Custody In Sylmar
SYLMAR (CBS) — A man locked himself inside a home in Sylmar and fired off several shots, prompting a standoff with police.
The suspect was taken into custody, without incident, nearly 5 hours after the incident began around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
The incident occurred in the 13300 block of Raven Street, said Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department.
"It was a family member. He went into a room with a gun and they heard rounds go off," Rayner said. "We do not know if he hurt himself or if he was just in there firing off shots."
Rayner said the other occupants of the house got out and notified police. LAPD SWAT units were sent to the location.
As of 7:45 p.m., SWAT units remained at the scene and have not made entry into the house, Rayner said.
