Bank Robbery Suspect Shot, Alleged Partner Captured Following Foot Chase In Paramount
UPDATE 11:25 pm: The second man nabbed after Thursday's manhunt was just now determined to have had no involvement with the bank robbery or high-speed pursuit, says Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Benjamin Grubb. The other suspect is now believed to still be on the loose.
PARAMOUNT (CBS) — One bank robbery suspect was shot and his partner captured after nearly a 5-hour hunt Thursday following a high speed pursuit and foot chase in Los Angeles County.
The men reportedly robbed a Wells Fargo Branch inside of a Stater Brothers, 1111 E. Imperial Highway, around 2:15 p.m. before leading authorities on a high speed chase, officials said.
The pursuit ended in the 8000 block of Denbo Street when the two Hispanic male suspects bailed out of their grey Dodge vehicle and took off on foot, according to authorities.
One suspect was shot by a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy. The extent of his injuries are unknown.
The second suspect fled. Early reports said the man was taken into custody but police later said that report was erroneous.
That suspect was captured after eluding police for five hours.
Officials think this robbery may be connected to three other bank heists committed by the "Market Duo" in the Southland.
