Bank Employees Reportedly Lock Out Would-Be Robber Sporting Hockey Mask, Gloves
WOODLAND HILLS (CBS) — Authorities say bank employees foiled an attempted robbery in the San Fernando Valley Monday afternoon.
The suspect, sporting a hockey mask and hockey gloves, was still standing outside the Wells Fargo branch at 20800 Ventura Boulevard when police arrived at about 2 p.m., LAPD officer Karen Rayner said.
"Some of the bank employees saw the man walk up to the front of the bank, locked the doors so he couldn't get in and then called police,"the LAPD spokesperson said.
Emergency dispatchers were heard asking for a beanbag gun to be brought to the bank, but Rayner said she didn't know if a beanbag gun was used to disable to the man.
The suspect, who police have not identified, was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, Rayner said.
No other details were immediately available.
