'Band Aid Bandit' Suspected In 11 Armed Robberies In LA; $10K Reward Offered
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Deputies sought the public's help Thursday for information that would lead to the arrest of an armed robbery suspect dubbed the "Band Aid Bandit."
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the suspect is responsible for at least 11 armed robberies at various cellphone stores, banks and jewelry stores in Norwalk, Paramount, Hawaiian Gardens, Bellflower, Lakewood, Bell Gardens and Long Beach.
The armed robberies began in March 2014. His most recent crime was committed in the beginning of April, authorities said. To date, the suspect has stolen more than $136,000.
Deputies consider the "Band Aid Bandit" to be a danger to the community as the suspect has become more aggressive and hostile during each robbery.
He has not physically harmed victims. However, he has been armed with a handgun during each robbery.
Officials expressed their concern that victims may be injured if the "Band Aid Bandit" is not soon apprehended.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
