DUI Suspect Accused Of Slamming Truck Into Cars Before Plowing Into Baldwin Park Home
BALDWIN PARK (CBSLA.com) — A suspected drunken driver collided into several cars before plowing into a home in Baldwin Park, authorities said.
Investigators say a home and three vehicles were damaged in the crash, which unfolded around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on Emery Avenue.
Authorities say the car was speeding and lost control prior to colliding into the cars and the attached garage of a home.
"I guess he must have been coming at 70 mph to hit three cars and blow the screen out the window," said neighbor Jesse Lopez. "He must have been going pretty fast."
Several people were inside the home at the time, but all appeared to be physically OK.
The pickup truck destroyed the wall of a converted garage.
"It was three minutes before … a girl was standing over there talking to my son," said Bill Van Cleave, a neighbor. "I came around, 'where's she at, where's she at?' I thought she was in the car."
After the crash, witnesses grabbed the driver.
When police arrived, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was cooperative with authorities.
No one was injured.
