Authorities Probe Shooting Death Of Compton Man, 58

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Friday continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 58-year-old man in Compton.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a written statement that deputies responded to the 900 block of North Oleander Avenue following a report of a gunshot victim.

The incident was reported about 4:40 p.m. Thursday.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim, who had sustained multiple gunshots to the upper torso.

The man was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The statement said that the suspect, described as a Hispanic man, was still outstanding.
