Authorities Probe Several Deadly Shootings In Compton
COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday continued to investigate three separate shootings in Compton that claimed the lives of three men.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a news release that the first fatal shooting of a 26-year-old Black man occurred about 9:10 p.m. Saturday at East 148th Street and South Loness Avenue.
Witnesses told authorities that the victim and a friend had left a family gathering when their car was struck by gunfire in the 14300 block of Corlett Avenue.
About three hours later, a second shooting was reported in the 900 block of East Kay Street.
The third shooting happened about 12:46 a.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of West Alondra Boulevard.
Authorities said the victim in the latest shooting was a 32-year-old Black man. He was found in the driver's seat of his car, which was parked just outside Nate's Liquor, suffering from gunshot wounds.
The suspect in the third shooting was described as a Black man wearing a hoodie-type jacket. Authorities said he was last seen running east across the parking lot and reportedly got into a dark-colored vehicle, which drove north on McKinley Avenue.
The identity of all three victims has not yet been released. The first victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The two others were declared dead at the scenes.
