Authorities Identify Salinas Woman Killed In Crash Near Pyramid Lake

CASTAIC (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Tuesday identified a 57-year-old woman who was killed after a car went off the side of a freeway near Pyramid Lake.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, a 2010 Chevy Malibu ended up about 100 feet off the freeway down a ditch, just west of the southbound 5 Freeway, according to California Highway Patrol.

Upon their arrival, officers pronounced Rosa Silva Torres, of Salinas, dead at the scene.

Four other people -- between the ages of 4 and 22 -- were critically injured in the accident.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver lost control of the vehicle as no skid marks were visible in the area.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
