Authorities Identify Bellflower Man, 81, Killed In Head-On Crash
BUENA PARK (CBS) — Authorities Tuesday identified an 81-year-old Bellflower man who died in a head-on crash in Buena Park on Monday night.
Wilbur L. Fagan lost control of his 1992 Chevrolet Blazer while traveling westbound on La Palma Avenue at Tamarack Way about 8:50 p.m. Monday.
The Blazer veered into a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban that was eastbound on La Palma, Buena Park police Sgt. Bill Kohanek said.
George A. Ayala, 51, of Anaheim, who was behind the wheel of the Suburban, and a woman in the passenger seat suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Kohanek said.
Ayala, who had allegedly been drinking before the collision, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, but was not booked, Kohanek said, noting that investigators do not believe the crash was Ayala's fault.
Police were waiting for blood test results, however, to determine whether to seek DUI charges against Ayala, Kohanek said.
