Authorities ID Woman Who Jumped Nude Off Beverly Hills High-Rise
BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have identified the 53-year-old woman who jumped to her death last week from a Beverly Hills high-rise.
Sandra D'Auriol ventured to the top of the Camden Medical Arts building, located at 414 North Camden Drive, around 7 a.m. Wednesday and jumped off three hours later, according to police and the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.
D'Auriol was a mother and married to a well-known artist. The couple lived and worked in Hong Kong. D'Auriol was known for making one-of-a-kind jewelry. She was active in several charities and often donated profits from her business to causes that benefited women, children and the environment.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, D'Auriol had gone Tuesday to the Camden Medical Arts building to undergo a facelift with Dr. Brian Novack. The doctor is known to be a high-priced plastic surgeon to celebrities such as Demi Moore.
D'Auriol was reportedly kept overnight for observation and woke up Wednesday agitated and aggressive. It's alleged she had a possible reaction to her anesthesia.
She managed to get to the top of the 15-story building, creating quite a stir as residents began calling police to report a naked woman standing on the roof's ledge. She jumped three hours later and was declared dead at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
Meanwhile, Novack is at the center of a Beverly Hills police investigation, THR sources allege.
CBS2/KCAL9 reporter Suraya Fadel has made several attempts to contact Novack. The after-hours number at his office directed Fadel to an after-hours email that yielded responses from two different former employees, who say they recently resigned from the doctor's office but didn't explain why. An after-hours cell phone number responded with a text message: "I have his phone [sic] Whom may I ask who's calling?" Fadel replied and there was no response.
Fadel said police still didn't want to confirm many details other than to say the case is still under investigation.
Flowers, candles and notes were left by strangers Monday night were D'Auriol passed away.
