Australian Tourist Killed After Being Hit By Alleged Drunk Driver
SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — An Australian man died Wednesday after being struck by an alleged drunk driver the night before in Santa Monica.
The 50-year-old pedestrian was crossing the street in the 300 block of Colorado Avenue against a "Don't Walk" sign at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to Sgt. Richard Lewis of the Santa Monica Police Department.
Cara Cameron, 26, was driving on a green light and couldn't stop before hitting the victim.
The man's 8-year-old daughter was injured, but his wife was all right.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Cameron was arrested and booked for felony driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
She posted $100,000 bail and will appear in court Sept. 21.
