Man Wanted For Attempted Murder In 3 Stabbings
MONTEREY PARK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities need the public's help in capturing a man they say tried to murder three people in less than a week.
Alfred Tapia, 34, is suspected of attempted murder in connection with three stabbing incidents in just four days last week, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's officials.
The first stabbing incident happened last Tuesday, when authorities say Tapia went to the home of a relative in the 8700 block of Olympic Way in Pico Rivera. The Whittier resident allegedly attacked a family member with a knife and caused serious, life-threatening injuries.
"It's unbelievable that someone could even attempt (that) on their own family member," a Pico Rivera resident said. "Christmas time is a time where families come together; not to hurt one another."
Two days later, Tapia allegedly attacked a friend with a hammer in the 10500 block of Nashville Avenue in the unincorporated area of Whittier. Detectives say Tapia also produced a knife during the attack and stabbed the friend several times.
On Friday, Tapia is suspected in a third stabbing attack in Chino, where a family member was seriously injured.
Tapia's father says the family is cooperating with authorities.
Police believe the suspect, who should be considered armed and dangerous, may be driving a 2003, black Lexus that was last seen with the California license plate #5CFB492.
Anyone with information about Tapia or his location can call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, OSS Det. Oscar Calderon or Det. Richard Torres at (310)601-6051 or (323)371-7387.
