AT&T Restores Wireless Service To Most SoCal Customers

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — AT&T reports that most of its wireless network in Los Angeles appeared to be up and running Sunday after a problem put nearly 1,000 of their cell towers out of service.

As of 10 a.m. Sunday, a PR representative for the company confirmed that restoration was near completion, adding that only a handful of cell sites remained down.

AT&T customer service said they received reports of a large transport outage in the Los Angeles market about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

LA has more than 1,000 voice and data towers in the region, 937 of which went down.

A hardware issue affected their sites and towers leaving an unspecified number of customers with no service or degraded service.

Customers across the Southland reported dropped, failed and missed calls, an AT&T spokesperson told CBS2.
