AT&T Helps Restore Highland Park Mural To Original Glory
HIGHLAND PARK (CBS) — A historic mural scarred with graffiti has been restored to its original beauty.
The mural is on the AT&T building at the 1200 block of Avenue 56. It was first created more than 30 years ago and represents the history of Highland Park.
"It has an anti-graffiti coating so it can have graffiti removed from it," said Judy Baca, a muralist who first worked on the painting back in 1977.
With the newest high-tech graffiti interventions, the mural is expected to last another 40 years.
The restoration process, which took more than a year to complete, cost AT&T $78,000.
