At Least 2 Dead After Small Plane Crashes Near Santa Paula Airport
SANTA PAULA (CBS) — A small plane has crashed near the Santa Paula Airport and authorities say at least two people have died.
The plane went down shortly before 8:30 p.m. Sunday and landed in a river bottom near Santa Paula Airport, according to Capt. Ron Oatman of the Ventura County Fire Department.
An emergency crew found the plane engulfed in flames and proceeded to extinguish the fire.
A person was found dead near the plane and, after searching the area, crews found another casualty in the vicinity.
No word yet on whether the plane was taking off or landing.
