Arrests Made In Connection With Canyon Country Carjacking

CANYON COUNTRY (CBSLA.com) — Two of three suspects wanted for an alleged carjacking in Canyon Country have been arrested, authorities said Saturday.

About 12:50 a.m., authorities said a 56-year-old man was approached in the 17600 block of Jakes Way by three black males who allegedly asked for his keys.

"When the victim refused, the males began to assault him," according to a statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. "During the assault, the victim was able to throw his keys away from him."

At some point during that scuffle, police said the suspects managed to get the victim's keys and took off in his 2009 Lincoln MKX.

About 90 minutes later, officers attempted a traffic stop on the victim's car, according to the statement. The car initially failed to yield but once it stopped, police said the suspects fled.

Two of the suspects were detained soon after. Both were expected to be transferred to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. Their identities have not been released.
