Arrest Made In Kidnapping Of 10-Year-Old Northridge Girl

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Police Department Monday announced an arrest in the kidnapping of a 10-year-old Northridge girl.

The department's media relations office confirms Daniel Martinez, 29, of West Hills, has been arrested in the nearly 12-hour abduction of the girl, who was taken from her home in the early morning hours of March 27.

After nearly 12 hours, the girl was found wandering around a Starbucks parking lot barefoot.

Martinez was arrested Sunday in the 18200 block of Rayen Street in Northridge, according to the LAPD.

The department has also named Tobias Summers — who was released from prison last July as part of a realignment program that eased overcrowding — as a suspect.

Summers, who has previously been charged with kidnapping, could be in the San Diego area. Authorities say he may have shaved his head in an attempt to change his appearance.

No other details about Monday's arrest were immediately released.

Anyone with information about Summers is asked to call the Robbery Homicide Tipline at (213)486-6890. Those who may spot the suspect should immediately call 911.
