Around The NFL: Ref Suspended, Undrafted 49er Signs Big Deal, Season-Ending Injuries In St. Louis

The world of professional football has a lot to offer to anyone and everyone that watches it, loves it, and even participates in it. Fans expect to see big hits, fantastic plays and talented players. What they don't expect to see are some of the things that make the NFL one of the most mesmerizing sports leagues to watch in the entire world.
NFL suspends umpire one game without pay for trash talking Redskins Trent Williams
It appears as if the word of one of the Washington Redskins went truly noticed by the NFL as umpire Roy Ellison has been suspended one game without pay for making a "profane and derogatory" statement directed at 'Skins tackle Trent Williams. The NFL said there is a code of conduct for officials and that Ellison did not follow it.
Michael Arnold, legal counsel for the NFL Referees Association, said the decision would be challenged because all the facts weren't considered. Ellison was accused of calling Williams a "garbage-a** disrespectful m***** f*****." There are also reports that Williams called Ellison the N-word in the same game.
Some say this is a double standard and it has turned into a matter of he said vs. he said.
Tramaine Brock agrees to huge deal with 49ers
Tramaine Brock appeared to come out of nowhere as he took over for an injured Nnamdi Asomugha in Week 4 and hasn't stopped. Since then, the 49ers have released Asomugha and Brock has now been given a four-year contract worth $16 million with $7 million in guaranteed money.
Brock is an undrafted free agent from Belhaven College and he is about to get the first start of his career in place of an injured Tarell Brown. He has already been playing like a starter and now will be paid like one.
This season, Brock leads the team with four interceptions and he also has 18 tackles. Through all of last season, Brock had 16 tackles and a forced fumble. He also had 15 tackles on special teams, but now he has a much bigger role for the team as a part of the secondary.
St. Louis Rams place two on season-ending IR
Four total roster moves have been made by the St. Louis Rams and it saw two big names land on season-ending injured reserve. Cornerback Cortland Finnegan was healthy going into last week's bye but then ended up on the team's injury report with an "eye injury." He was listed as doubtful against the Chicago Bears and then placed on IR.
Quarterback Brady Quinn also saw his season officially end, landing on IR. He was signed at the end of October once Sam Bradford went out for the year. Quinn practiced for a week but has been on the injury report with a hip problem ever since and he appears to have back issues as well.
Rookie safety T.J. McDonald was activated from the reserve/designated to return list. Defensive back Quinton Porter was also signed from the practice squad to the active roster for the Rams.
