Around the NFL: Pryor's Concussion Probed, Bucs Bench Josh Freeman, RG3 Spots Improvement On Horizon
By Danny Cox
The NFL is seeing a lot of change happening around different teams, and some of the moves are justified and understandable while others are a tad confusing. Terrelle Pryor is dealing with a concussion he suffered this past Monday, but the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) believes there is more to it. Robert Griffin III thinks his team is going to be different in week four and beyond. Quarterback Josh Freeman will watch this week's Buccaneers game from the sidelines as a rookie will now line-up under center.
NFL Union looking further into Terrelle Pryor's concussion
The NFLPA is looking at the Oakland Raiders to see if they followed the NFL's protocol for quarterback Terrelle Pryor's concussion this past Monday night. Pryor suffered the injury after being hit by Denver Broncos linebacker Wesley Woodyard, but he stayed in the game for two more plays.
Pryor actually defended the Raiders medical staff after their treatment and for leaving him in for two more plays after the hit.
"Looked like I was functioning; I watched the tape," Pryor said. "I could definitely see why they didn't see it ... I was talking to them, so I was fine because they were asking me (questions). Definitely a delayed reaction."
The NFLPA is waiting for the official game report from Oakland before they determine how to proceed in the matter.
RG3 thinks the Redskins are "real close" to turning the season around
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III believes the 0-3 start by the team is disappointing but it won't last long. He believes they are "real close" to turning it around and states that the 0-3 start is "not who we are."
RG3 thinks the team sees their closeness on tape, but their play isn't showing it to anyone else. His knee injury and knee brace are really affecting his play and he isn't looking anything like he did in his rookie season of 2012. Still, Griffin has faith in his team and their attitude.
"I think the swagger you are talking about, it's hard to have that swagger sitting at 0-3, but I don't think the team has lost its sense of confidence," Griffin told the press. "We know we can turn it around. We're built to get out of this hole just like we were last year."
Tampa Bay benches Josh Freeman and will start rookie Mike Glennon
Bucs coach Greg Schiano has gone back on his word that Josh Freeman would remain the team's starting quarterback and will now go with rookie Mike Glennon. With five weeks left until the trade deadline, it is not guaranteed that Freeman will even be with the Buccaneers by season's end.
Schiano said that "Mike's our starting quarterback from this point forward." Both he and general manager Mark Dominik believe Glennon gives the Buccaneers the best chance to win right now.
Tampa Bay has lost eight of their last nine games with an offense that has looked totally useless on the field at times.
No teams have contacted the Bucs about trading for Freeman at this time, but they are open to listening.
