Around The NFL: Movements And Injuries

There comes a time in all professional football teams' lives where tough decisions must be made, and they often come about in full force when the season wears on. With the playoffs just around the corner, some of the top teams in the NFL are having to deal with injuries and other factors that are causing them to make moves, whether they be easy or really hard.
New Orleans Saints waive kicker Garrett Hartley and cornerback Chris Carr
Garrett Hartley has had a lot of good history with the New Orleans Saints, but he has not had a good year. The Saints released Hartley, who has struggled much of this season and had another bad game against the St. Louis Rams. Hartley has made only 22-of-30 (73 percent) field goal attempts this season.
Five kickers were brought in for tryouts earlier this season, but there has been no word on who might replace Hartley. The Saints also waived cornerback Chris Carr.
Joe Flacco to undergo MRI to check full damage to knee
During the Baltimore Ravens win over the Detroit Lions on Monday night, quarterback Joe Flacco took a hard hit to his left knee. Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy dove at Flacco midway through the fourth quarter and ended up hitting the quarterback's knee with his helmet.
Flacco did end up staying in the game and the Ravens don't think the injury is serious, but an MRI will be performed to get the full look of any possible damage.
PIttsburgh Steelers place LaMarr Woodley on season-ending IR
With a possible playoff run coming up, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be without outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley, as he's been placed on season-ending injured reserve. Woodley strained his right calf during the Steelers victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night.
Earlier in the season, Woodley missed three games with a left calf strain. He has battled hamstring injuries for a couple of years now, but is still one of the most talented and productive defensive players on the team. Rookie Jarvis Jones will take over in Woodley's absence.
Denver Broncos reach deal with former Jacksonville Jaguars' defensive end
Defensive end Jeremy Mincey was late to one too many team meetings for the Jacksonville Jaguars and ended up being waived by the team. The Denver Broncos realize good talent when it is out there, so they reached a deal with defensive lineman to get more depth for their line during the playoffs.
Mincey has agreed to terms and is already going to be on the practice field for the Denver Broncos this week. A roster move will have to be made for Mincey to officially be added to the team, but the Broncos are happy to have him.
