Around The NFL: Mike Pouncey Subpoenaed, Mike Vick's Injury, Jags Lag In London

By Danny Cox

While the action in the NFL is heating up with the contenders and pretenders starting to separate, there are some frightening and sad instances going on as well. Injuries can be a frightening part of the game, but then again, so can court cases. Maybe even more frightening is the fact that the poor people at Wembley Stadium in London have to keep watching the Jaguars play.

Dolphins' Mike Pouncey subpoenaed for Aaron Hernandez court case

The Miami Dolphins had to deal with a heartbreaking loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday after leading early on in the game. Had the Dolphins won, it may have overshadowed center Mike Pouncey's news of getting a subpoena from a Massachusetts grand jury for the Aaron Hernandez murder investigation.

It isn't known what Pouncey actually knows and he has not been charged with a crime, but police are looking at him as a witness who could possibly help in the investigation.

During the offseason, Pouncey was photographed with his twin brother, Maurkice Pouncy of the Pittsburgh Steelers, wearing hats that said "Free Hernandez." Pouncey is currently out with a knee injury that ended his season.

Michael Vick dealing with a hamstring injury unlike any he has ever had

The Philadelphia Eagles are currently dealing with serious quarterback issues, and it seemingly just got worse. Michael Vick left Sunday's loss against the New York Giants after feeling his hamstring "pop" as he ran for the sideline.

"I felt the same feeling that I had the first time [he hurt the hamstring on Oct. 6]," Vick said. "I don't think it's as bad, but it did pop again ... I've never had a hamstring injury this bad."

Eagles also sat their second string QB Nick Foles due to a concussion he suffered against the Cowboys the previous week. Vick thought he was ready to come back Sunday against the Giants, but it didn't seem as if he was ready and he went right back out. That left rookie Matt Barkley to come in and he committed two turnovers in the loss.

In case of an emergency on Sunday, tight end James Casey was the third quarterback of the Eagles.

The 49ers thrash the Jaguars as the fans at Wembley Stadium suffer

The Jacksonville Jaguars fell to 0-8 on the season after being demolished 42-10 at the hands of Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately for the European fans of the NFL, they will have to watch the Jaguars play for at least three more seasons since agreeing to be the "home" team in Wembley.

The 49ers just tore up the Jaguars in every aspect of the game, and one would hope things can improve in the coming seasons. The NFL has already made sure that "popular teams" will be matched up against Jacksonville in the coming years, but if today is any indication, they won't be competitive match-ups.
