Around The NFL: Broncos Guard Retires, Saint Out For Year, Suh Wants Cutler
By Danny Cox
The game of professional football is one that so many work so hard to get into, and there are probably 95 percent of them that don't even make it. If you're a fan of the NFL, then you realize just how much of a gift it really is to work your tail off for so long and then get the pay off of the big leagues, money, fame, and so much more.
But there are some people who just don't think it is everything they would ever want. Even once they get there.
Broncos guard John Moffitt unhappy with life in the NFL so he just walks away
Denver Broncos guard John Moffitt isn't unhappy with the amount of playing time he has gotten nor is he wanting more money. He has just lost his love for the game and wants to make sure that his health is intact for the rest of his life.
Moffitt called the Broncos from his home in Seattle and advised them that he wouldn't return to the team after their bye week. He is leaving about $1 million on the table and has made around $1.8 million throughout his two and a half years in the league.
The former draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks said that he isn't concerned with fame or fortune or even the Super Bowl. He just wants to be happy in his life. Moffitt said he has nothing against the game of football or the guys that play it, but it just isn't for him anymore.
Saints Jonathan Vilma out for the rest of the season
Linebacker Jonathan Vilma played for the first time for the New Orleans Saints this season when he faced off with his former team, the New York Jets. That is all the action he'll get to see this season though because the Saints officially placed him on Injured Reserve thus ending his year.
His nagging knee injury, that has seen him have four procedures done since 2011, could possibly spell the end of his career entirely. There is currently doubt as to whether or not he will ever be able to return to the field and play at a high enough level.
Vilma played just 12 snaps against the Jets and registered one tackle.
Ndamukong Suh hopes that Jay Cutler is healthy enough to play against the Lions
It is no secret that Ndamukong Suh and Jay Cutler aren't best friends. Suh is just hoping that Cutler's torn groin muscle is healed up enough for him to play against the Lions this Sunday. Suh says he only wants to go against the best, but he appears to like taking off after Cutler no matter what.
"I love playing against Cutler," said Suh. "He's a tough guy. No discredit to [Josh] McCown, but I want the best shot. Whichever quarterback is healthier and the healthiest to go and is going to give them their best opportunity, that's who I want to go against."
"I want to beat the best no matter what. Every single week," Suh added.
It isn't known at this time who the Bears will line up with at quarterback, but Suh should be happy either way. Cutler was playing very well before his injury, but McCown has played extraordinary since having to take over.
