Around The NFL: 49er Fuming, Colt To Be Banned, Redskin Cursed Out By Ump

By Danny Cox

The anger spewing forth in the NFL lately is coming from passion, intensity and sometimes, stupidity. When looking through the list of complaints though, there are some that are justified, others which aren't so much, and then those which are just so shocking and absurd that they are hard to believe.

49ers Ahmad Brooks angry over penalty for hit on Saints Drew Brees

The San Francisco 49ers came close to defeating the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome, but a number of mistakes ended up costing them the game late. 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks believes that one of them wasn't a mistake at all and essentially should have ended the Saints comeback.

Brooks blasted Saints quarterback Drew Brees with a hit that jarred the ball loose and was recovered by 49er Patrick Willis. Only, a flag was thrown for a roughing the passer penalty that negated the fumble and gave the Saints 15 yards. Refs said that Brooks hit Brees around the neck, but Brooks disagrees.

"I didn't hit him with my hand or my helmet," Brooks told reporters, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "I basically bear-hugged him. That's just how football is played. I think this s--- is bull----. Football, the way they call stuff these days, it's watered down. It ain't real no more."

Brooks went on to say that he believes the refs made the call because they were playing in New Orleans and the quarterback that was hit was "Drew Brees."

Erik Walden to receive ban from NFL for headbutt

Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker had his helmet ripped off by Indianapolis Colts linebacker Erik Walden before being head butted last Thursday night. Walden did receive an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for his helmet-to-bare-head hit, but wasn't ejected from the game.

Now, he will be paying for it as Walden is to be banned one game for the hit. He does have the ability to appeal the suspension if he so chooses.

Many thought that Walden would merely get a fine, but expanded discussions ended up with him getting the ban.

Redskins Trent Williams says that an umpire cursed him out during a game

Trent Williams, the left tackle for the Washington Redskins, is complaining about being trash-talked during the team's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. While that may seem like a weird complaint; it is justified because it wasn't perpetrated by a player on the Eagles but allegedly by umpire Roy Ellison.

Williams insists that Ellison cursed him out late in the first half of the game, and it was not just a simple expletive either. Williams says that Ellison walked by him after a play and called him a "garbage-a--, disrespectful m----- f-----."

When a reporter for the Richmond Times-Dispatch attempted to get a statement from the officials, they rolled up the windows on their bus and drove away. Williams has no idea why the comment was made to him and a number of Redskins players corroborated the incident.
