Army Private Will Stand Trial In The Alleged Rape Of His Stepsister
LANCASTER (AP) -- A U.S. Army private who escaped from military custody in Georgia while awaiting extradition to Los Angeles County, has been ordered to stand trial in the alleged rape of his 15-year-old stepsister.
According to news reports, 20-year-old Daniel Jay Brazelton was held to answer for multiple felony counts Wednesday, including forcible rape, unlawful sexual intercourse and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime. The suspect 14 years in state prison if convicted.
The case received national attention last month when Brazelton escaped from military custody while being transported after a medical appointment back to a Georgia jail where he was awaiting extradition to Los Angeles County. Brazelton was on the lam for a week before being rearrested by police in Daytona Beach, Fla.
