Authorities arrested an alleged robbery suspect who tied an elderly man up inside of his own home while robbing him in Riverside County on Tuesday.

It happened at around 3:15 p.m., at which point deputies were dispatched to a house in the 39000 block of Lincoln Street after receiving reports of an armed robbery, according to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

During their investigation, they learned that the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Jason Wright tied the victim up while armed with a knife. He then stole his car and fled from the area.

"As deputies responded to the area, a vehicle matching the description of the victim's vehicle was seen at a drive-thru restaurant in the area of Sixth Street and Highland Springs Avenue in the city of Beaumont," said a statement from RSO.

In response they dispatched multiple units to the exit of the drive-thru, which prompted Wright to put the car in reverse and jump a curb before driving onto Highland Springs Avenue, deputies said.

They briefly lost sight of the car before later finding it on dirt roads just south of Beaumont, near California Avenue and Lamb Canyon Road, thanks to help from the Beaumont Police Department and a sheriff's department helicopter.

Wright was finally taken into custody after eluding authorities for a while, eventually ending up at a dead end where he ditched the car and ran on foot.

After his arrest he was booked on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping, false imprisonment of an elder, vehicle theft and probation violation, deputies said.

Anyone who may know more is asked to contact detectives at (951) 776-1099.
