Armed Man Shot, Killed By San Bernardino Police
SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA) – An armed man was shot and killed by San Bernardino police officers late Sunday night.
The shooting occurred at approximately 11:20 p.m. in the area of East Fourth and North Allen streets.
The incident began when officers were called to a domestic disturbance regarding an armed man, according to San Bernardino police. Responding officers tried to calm the suspect down and convince him to lay down his gun, police said. However, when that failed, a sergeant on scene shot the suspect with less-lethal shotgun rounds. That also failed, prompting officers to try and taser the suspect, police disclosed.
At that point, the suspect then charged at the officers, prompting them to open fire on him, police said.
The suspect was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died of his wounds at 12:25 a.m. Monday. His name was not released.
No officers were hurt in the incident.
The exact details that lead up to the confrontation and the type of gun the suspect was carrying were not confirmed.
