Arleta Man, Whittier Resident Win Huge Lottery Prizes
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Two California men -- one in Arleta, the other in Whittier -- are big winners in separate lottery games, according to California Lottery officials.
Jose Meija's wife told him he was "crazy" when he called her to say he believed he had a $1 million winner in the $250 Million Cash Spectacular game.
He bought his scratcher at the Alta Dena Dairy (7620 Woodman Avenue). The store gets a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Meija told lottery officials he was "nervous" when he realized he was holding one of the winners. He said he plans to pay off his house.
Meanwhile, a Whittier man is $546,128 richer after hitting all five numbers Saturday in the Fantasy 5 game.
Richard Willsey claimed his prize Friday at the California Lottery's Sante Fe Springs office.
The winning ticket was sold at Poor Denny's Saloon (8020 Boer Avenue.)
