Appointments Mark Closing Act For Schwarzenegger
SACRAMENTO (CBS/AP) — Entering his last weekend as Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger made a host of appointments and reappointments that included seven people from Los Angeles County and two people from Orange County.
Schwarzenegger has reappointed former Anaheim mayor Curt Pringle to the California High-Speed Rail Authority board, one of several key transportation posts filled by the governor Thursday.
Aaron McClear, Governor Schwarznegger's press secretary tells KNX 1070's Charles Feldman he believes Schwarzenegger faces mixed reviews from his critics.
Pringle's presence on the board combined with his positions as mayor of Anaheim and member of the Orange County Transportation Authority drew criticism from state legislators and prompted a report from Attorney General Jerry Brown's office saying the overlapping roles were inappropriate.
But Pringle was recently termed out of the other two positions.
Schwarzenegger also named Fresno real estate developer Thomas Richards and Los Angeles publisher Matthew Toledo to the board, which is overseeing the development of a $43 billion rail system from Anaheim to San Francisco.
And former congresswoman Yvonne Burke was named to the Transportation Commission.
