Apparent Bomb Threat On Smartphone App Prompts Lockdown Of San Clemente High
SAN CLEMENTE (CBSLA.com) – San Clemente High School was locked down for roughly four hours Thursday after an apparent threat was found on YikYak, an anonymous downloadable smartphone application.
A hazardous device squad was sent to the campus, which is located at 700 Avenida Pico, to investigate.
The lockdown was lifted at 1 p.m., according to officials.
The following statement was posted on the school's Website during the lockdown:
"Students at San Clemente High School are sheltering in place as law enforcement investigate reports of a bomb threat made on social media. Law enforcement and school officials have students sheltering in place as a precautionary measure. District officials do not have any additional information at this time, but parents will be kept informed through phone messages, emails and the school and district website. We are asking parents NOT to go to the school at this time. If it becomes necessary to remove students from campus, parents will be informed. If you have any additional questions, please contact our parent information line at (949) 234-5575."
