Anticipated Zipline Opens In Venice Beach
VENICE BEACH (CBSLA.com) — The highly-anticipated zipline in Venice Beach is officially open for business.
The Flightlinez, which took two years to open, zipline has partnered with the Soaring Heights organization, which helps kids experience art and thrill attractions.
"It was really fun," Soaring Heights participant B.J. Shaw said. "I was a little nervous at first, but it turned out to be really fun."
Flightlinez founder, Ian Green, says the ride is about more than providing a thrill, however.
"You go to see Cirque De Sole and you wish you could do that," Green said. "But where do you learn to do that? These kids are learning to, more or less, overcome their fears."
A portion of the proceeds for the zipline are going back into the Venice community to help keep the city clean.
The zipline costs $20 per person, and $18 for locals.
