Angels Honor Vin Scully With Series Of Gifts Before Final Game At Angel Stadium
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim honored legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully on Friday hours before he called his final game at Angel Stadium.
The Angels presented Scully with a series of gifts, including a letter from the Angels organization expressing their gratitude, a shadow box containing memorabilia from the 1989 MLB All-Star Game (which Scully called in Anaheim), and a microphone from his first job as part of CBS Radio in Washington D.C.
Manager Mike Scioscia and players Mike Trout and Jered Weaver presented Scully with the gifts.
"I've never considered myself a neighbor," Scioscia said. "I've always considered myself a part of the Dodger family."
The crowd also gave Scully a standing ovation before the game started.
The Angels ended up winning the game 7-4.
