Angelenos Celebrate 7th 'CicLAvia' Event Along Wilshire Boulevard
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Thousands of Angelenos ditched their cars and headed to Wilshire Boulevard on bike for the city's seventh CicLAvia event.

Officials closed six miles of Wilshire Boulevard at 9 a.m. Sunday for the car-free block party, encouraging residents to walk, run, or bike.
The route from Fairfax Avenue to Grand Avenue remained open to bicyclists, pedestrians, roller skaters, skateboarders, and any sort of wheeled contraption that's not an automobile. The free event ends at 4 p.m.
Aaron Paley, the event founder and executive director, told KNX 1070 that cars in the area would be able to cross at Vermont, Western, Fairfax, Grand, and La Brea avenues. Alvarado Street was another available crossing point.

"It's really just about a half-mile out of your way to go around it or to go through it. We think that traffic should not be backed up considerably because of that," he said.
A variety of food and fun activities were available along the route, including outdoor yoga and a KidZone with face painting.
The next CicLAvia event is scheduled for Oct. 6.
