Anchor Fired For On-Air Profanity To Appear On Letterman
LOS ANGELS (CBSLA.com) — Fired small-town North Dakota anchor A.J. Clemente will visit the LATE SHOW with David Letterman Wednesday night.
Clemente became an Internet phenomenon this week when a clip of him on his first day anchoring the news at KFYR, an NBC affiliate in Bismarck, N.D., made the rounds.
Not realizing his microphone was on at the top of Sunday night's news broadcast, Clemente uttered some profanities that were broadcast on air.
Clemente immediately tweeted his thoughts following the show.
The rookie news anchor has since been fired from the station.
"I can offer my personal assurance that I will do my best to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again under my watch," KFYR News Director Monica Hannan said via Facebook.
Clemente is now back on the job hunt, tweeting "Find #teamAJ a job" Monday. His post has been retweeted at least 488 times and favored by more than 160 people.
No word on a new gig outside his appearance on Letterman.
The LATE SHOW airs on CBS2 at 11:35 p.m.
