4 Suspected In Dine-And-Dash Arrested After Anaheim Waitress Is Run Over
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — A 28-year-old waitress was recovering Monday after she was run over by customers who authorities say drove off and refused to pay their bill in Anaheim.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday to Mexico Lindo Que Rico in the 10900 block of Magnolia Avenue for report of a victim being struck by a vehicle.
A preliminary investigation revealed the victim, Maria Uriostegui, chased four customers who refused to pay their bill and confronted them in the parking lot.
The customers allegedly ran over her leg with a black Volkswagen sedan, deputies explained.
The incident was captured on surveillance video.
Paramedics took Uriostegui to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment of a bruised lung and ankle and cuts sustained in the incident.
Uriostegui, a wife and mother of two, was visibly shaken when she spoke to CBS2/KCAL9 Monday, making a careful and tearful return to work.
"He hit me and I did fall, and I did hit my head. And I think that's when I went unconscious, maybe for four or five seconds. And when I regained consciousness I just remember feeling one of the tires going over my foot," she recalled.
"We made eye contact and they laughed it off and they just drove. At that point, I knew they weren't going to stop so I tried to move out of the way but by then it was too late," she said.
Three females and one male ages of 18 to 20 were located in Stanton around 1 a.m. when deputies saw the vehicle in the parking lot of a Motel 6 in the 7400 block of Katella Avenue.
Further investigation connected the Volkswagen with the incident at the restaurant. The four suspects were staying at the motel.
Deputies subsequently arrested Rowshaid Pellum, 24, of Cerritos; Markeisha Williams, 18, of Long Beach; Shyteice Miles, 19, of Long Beach; and Santeea Ralph, 23, of Long Beach in connection with the assault.
Pellum was arrested on suspicion of committing assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and defrauding an innkeeper.
Williams, Miles and Ralph were charged as accessory to assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and defrauding an innkeeper.
They are all being held on $25,000 each at the Orange County Jail.
Pellum, Williams, Miles and Ralph are expected to appear in court Tuesday.
The investigation is continuing.
