According to the Anaheim Police Department, firefighters were sent shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to the 1700 block of North Community Drive for report of a residential fire.
Upon their arrival, crews located flames and smoke showing from the upper floor of the large multi-unit, multi-building complex.
As the fire spread into the common hallway of the building, several residents became trapped inside their apartments.
Police officers assisted firefighters with rescuing the victims from second story balconies.
It took 60 firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
Paramedics transported three people to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
One second-floor apartment sustained significant fire damage and seven other units were damaged by heat and smoke.
