Anaheim Police Pursue Stolen Vehicle Suspect Driving Range Roger Throughout Fullerton, Surrounding Areas
FULLERTON (CBSLA) - Authorities were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle suspect Thursday evening near Fullerton.
The pursuit began just after 8 p.m., and the suspect traveled through both Fullerton, La Mirada and Placentia, but remained mostly on surface streets near the 91 Freeway.
Authorities disclosed that the stolen vehicle was a black Range Rover.
A spike strip deployed just after 9:15 p.m. failed to stop the vehicle, it was reportedly one of the few strips that they attempted to use - all without success. One of the attempted spike strips caused the driver to slam into another vehicle, though he kept driving.
As of 9:30 p.m., the pursuit had been ongoing for over an hour.
An attempted PIT maneuver failed to stop the vehicle just before 9:45 p.m., as the suspect continued to drive on shredded tires down northbound Brookhurst Road in Fullerton.
Authorities finally detained the suspect at 9:55 p.m., after nearly two hours at a gas station on Commonwealth Avenue and Gilbert Street.
The suspect pulled over and surrendered to officers.
