Anaheim Mayor Calls Order To Delete Emails A 'Mistake'
ANAHEIM (KNX 1070) — A member of an employees group is asking for a criminal investigation in the wake of a directive that asked city employees in Anaheim to delete potentially embarrassing emails.
Last week, employees of the Planning Department were told to clean out old messages and files that might be unflattering to city leaders or developers.
"Employees are stuck in an incredibly difficult position where they have to decide whether they're going to follow a directive given from their boss or face potential disciplinary action that could, you know, amount to being fired," said Jennifer Muir, spokeswoman for the Orange County Employees Association.
KNX 1070's Mike Landa reports that an Orange County prosecutor, however, says so far he sees nothing criminal.
