Anaheim Ducks Finalize Opening-Night Roster
ANAHEIM (AP) — The Anaheim Ducks have finalized their opening-night roster by sending five players to the minors.
The defending Pacific Division champions made the moves Monday after practice.
Anaheim sent right wing Brad Staubitz, center Richard Rakell, left wing John Kurtz and defenseman Nolan Yonkman to its AHL affiliate in Norfolk. Goalie Igor Bobkov went to an ECHL affiliate in Utah.
The Ducks will begin the season with four players on injured reserve: left wing Emerson Etem, new right wing Jakob Silfverberg and defensemen Luca Sbisa and Sheldon Souray.
Etem was hurt in a preseason collision last Saturday, while Silfverberg has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury since last week. Sbisa's sprained ankle is expected to heal by next week, but Souray is out indefinitely after surgery for a torn ligament in his wrist.
