American Airlines Introduces New Airbus Jet To LAX Fleet
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — American Airlines Thursday introduced a new jet to its LAX fleet that will begin travel from Los Angeles to New York next month.
The Airbus A-321T is the first new plane purchased to replace American's aging Boeing 767-200s fleet, which has been in service for more than 26 years.
The plane features three cabins: first, business and main, and all of which feature special enhancements to the seats.
Customers in the main cabin have the option to upgrade to one of 36 "extra" seats that include six additional inches of leg room and chairs that lean farther back.
"The cushion actually articulates forward so giving you more of an enhanced recline," Eric Chapital, American Airlines Aircraft Maintenance Manager, said. "So its more like a recliner at home-type feel."
Business and first class passengers can enjoy seats that lie fully flat, with first class featuring one seat on each side of the aisle for more privacy.
All seats on the A-321T have personal televisions with touch-screen technology and more than 120 channels.
The A-321T will go into service on January 7, 2014. By June, American will operate 13 daily flights to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport on several of the planes.
