Amazon's Patent Application For 'Selfie Pay' May Make Passwords Relic Of Past
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Passwords may become a relic of the past.
That's because Amazon Technologies, Inc. has filed a patent for Selfie Pay.
In its patent filing motion, the company says it will use an "authentication process that prompts the user to perform an action in view of a camera or sensor."
Amazon says facial recognition is more secure than a password or PIN number.
"The process identifies the user and verifies that the user requesting the transaction is a living human being," the application indicated.
